In case, that wasn't clear yet:
This video is what the discussion in entries 692 - 694 was about. It's also on the
news page where you already find the second one from 1990. Both videos were uploaded by the Ukes themselves.

Hi Andrea - thanks for all the research you've done, much appreciated. It's nice to know some of the history.
I think I just about recognise George, Kitty and Dave!

Hi Lisa,
I am really not sure, the photos on the back of my Ukulele Variations vinyl are rather small.
But let me try: The two ladies at the back look very much alike, so I think they are Mary and Caroline Fitton, that would make the lady at the front left Liane Kordan, because the other one second from the right has the same haircut and colour like Nony Ardill.
The man next to Dave in the second row looks closest to James Marsh to me, but I wouldn't bet on that.
The man next to George is clearly Brian (aka Marshall) Stapleton.
I wonder, if the one at the very right could be Andy Astle. Must be him. He's left-handed.
As they are 11 here and as the bass player looks suspiciously like Dave Bowie (the former UOGB bass player, not the famous singer),
I'd assume, most likely Jo Astle and Hank Young aren't in this video.
Will says, I'm right about everyone above, but the bass player is not Dave Bowie. That's Simon Edwards.

Re:The first ever tv appearance of the Ukes!! Wow who were all those people?? Very interesting to watch - but you really shouldn't have mentioned the "g" word, George!

Hi Mar,
I love visiting the States so have been to NYC a few times. We always stay on W 54th St [at Broadway] close to the Park and Times Sq, also Carnegie Hall.
Have to say I've never felt nervous walking round Manhattan, even at night, and NY has a great atmosphere, very similar in many ways to London.
I guarantee you will love the Ukes, you will laugh, cry, and be totally amazed at what they achieve with just ukes, vocals, and of course Jon's Bass, the ad libs and banter complete the package.
Genius!!

Neil,
Enjoy your 4 days in NYC. I had originally planned to go to Carnegie Hall, but the logistics got a little cumbersome and I ended up having to work on Nov.2. The Erie show may take me longer to get to, but in the long run it will be easier.
I'll be in Scotland April 30 to sometime between May 7 & 15 of 2011. I am hoping I can see the Ukes sometime then. With my luck they will be in the U.S. I'll check out Cuckoo on the web when I get a chance.
It's scary to think NYC is safer than London!
